Alberto M. Tan, M.D. is the current Mayor of the Municipality of Bislig in the CARAGA region of the Philippines.

Mayor Tan took up his Medical Course at the Southwestern University in the year 1968 and passed the Board Examination the following year. Before entering politics, he practiced his being a medical doctor to his fellow Bisliganons by putting up his private clinic at Mangagoy in 1972 where he gave free consultation and medication.

He is a member of Bislig Kamayo React and was a three-term President of the Philippine Medical Association of the Surigao del Sur Chapter (1989-1993).

Mayor Tan is married to Edna Durano of Danao, Cebu City with whom he has five children, namely: Fritzie (B.S. Biology graduate, now married to Winston Y. Sia- Bislig City Administrator); Jeanette, a dentist; Ma. Hazel, an Occupational Therapist; Berna, also an Occupational Therapist; and Moonwin, a B.S. Electrical and Communication Engineering graduate and now the city’s Chief Security Officer and married to Carol Y. Correa, a Physical Therapist.

The Mayor loves sports especially basketball and bowling. Bowling more importantly because it was through this sport he met his wife.
