Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos, Jr. is the current Mayor of the City of Mandaluyong in Metro Manila. He is also the former Representative of the Lone District of the City to the 13th Congress of the Philippines.
Benhur Abalos, as he is commonly called, is the son of the former COMELEC chairman, Benjamin Abalos. He belongs to a now becoming political clan of the City of Mandaluyong, Abalos clan. He is the controversial mayor who charged a case against the sexy actress Diana Zubiri, for posing sexily on the streets of Mandaluyong in 2002.
Benhur is not only known in politics abut also in horseracing. He is the president of MAHRO which unites all horseowners and concerns all sectors of the industry like the jockeys, the grooms, the helpers. He started to be involved in the sport in 2002. His first horse is Dandansoy, which won over P1.8 million for him in 2003. His co-owned Tigerhorse Stable now houses some of the finest horseflesh in the country – Empire Cat, Bumpy Johnson, Cat’s Gold, and Nothing Impossible.
