Peter Favila

Peter B. Favila (b. August 27, 1948 – ) is the current Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

He was appointed by the President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on 14 July 2005.

Prior to joining DTI, he served as a presidential adviser on infrastructure finance and as economic adviser to the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He was also chairperson of the Philippine Stock Exchange and of the Securities Clearing Corporation of the Philippines. He is currently a member of the Advisory Council of the Asian Bankers Association and the Board of Advisors of the Asian Institute of Management Policy Forum.

He was senior vice president of the Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. before serving as president of local banks including Security Bank, Allied Bank, and the Philippine National Bank. He also was director of the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Philippine Airlines, Bankers Association of the Philippines, Philippine Depository & Trust Corporation, Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority, Philippine International Trading Corporation, Philippine Associated Smelting and Refinery Corporation, and the National Steel Corporation.

He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, major in Banking and Finance from the University of Santo Tomas. He completed an Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
