Sergio Antonio Figueroa Apostol was born on January 17, 1935 in Catbalogan City, Samar. Apostol, a Roman Catholic, graduated from the Ateneo Law School and was a member of the prestigious Ateneo Law Journal. He passed the Philippine Bar exams in 1958, finishing 7th. He became a City Fiscal, Regional Trial Court Judge,Philippine Congressman for the 2nd District of Leyte and Cabinet Secretary.
In 2008, Sergio Apostol was Chief Presidential Legal Counsel for Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. On October 8, 2008, Eduardo Ermita confirmed Apostol’s resignation, effective October 30, to prepare for his candidacy, for Samar, Leyte congressional seat (2nd District, presently occupied by his wife), in the Philippine general election, 2010. Apostol, 73, said he expected to be nominated to a seat in the board of Union Bank. He was later appointed legal consultant of the SSS’ Social Security Commission (SSC).

Hi, I would just like to ask favor from the good Congressman from the 2nd District of Leyte where the Municipality of Jaro is located. I am just trying to trace my mother’s relatives from Jaro. She is Marina Aure, her parents are Feliciano and Consolacion, her siblings are Catalina and Pastor. My mother went to Manila in the late 1960′s when she was still a teen-ager and since then she never came back to Jaro and have not heard about her family anymore. I just hope that thru the good Congressman, I may be able to at least trace the roots of my mother. Thank you very much.
