Ramon Avanceña (April 13, 1872 – June 12, 1957) was a Chief Justice of the Philippines. He served from 1925-1941, when he resigned during the nearing of the Japanese Occupation. He later served as one of the vice-presidents of Jose Laurel in the puppet Second Republic.

Ramon Avanceña served as a legal adviser to the Revolutionary government of Iloilo, Capiz and Antique, and was chosen to negotiate with the American forces in Panay during the final days of the Philippine Revolution.

During the American Rule, he was appointed as assistant attorney in the Bureau of Justice and he was promoted to auxiliary judge in 1905. He was attorney-General from 1914 to 1917, when he was appointed to the Supreme Court as an Associate Justice. Upon the death of Manuel Araullo in 1924, he succeeded as Chief Justice, but he had to wait until 1925 to be formally appointed.

Maria Ana Consuelo Madrigal-Valade (born Maria Ana Consuelo Abad Santos Madrigal April 26, 1958), better known as Jamby Madrigal, is a politician in the Philippines. She was elected during the 2004 general elections and is currently serving as a Senator .

Jamby Madrigal was born on April 26, 1958 in Manila to Antonio Madrigal (1921-2007) and Amanda Abad Santos-Madrigal. She is the granddaughter of the former Supreme Court Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos of San Fernando, Pampanga. Her granduncle – pre-Commonwealth Assemblyman Pedro Abad Santos – founded the Socialist Party of the Philippines. The Abad Santos brothers were from a modest family.

Arnulfo P. Fuentabella (born October 29, 1945) was the Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives from 2000 to 2001. He is now a representative of Camarines Sur.

After then Speaker Manny Villar passed the President Joseph Estrada’s Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, Fuentebella was elected Speaker after Estrada’s allies in the House of Representatives motioned to make all positions in the House vacant; Fuentebella won the nomination.
