Ramon Y. Talaga, Jr. is the current Mayor of Lucena City of the province of Quezon, Philippines. Mayor Ramon, Jr. grew up with the political life because his father, the late Assistant Fiscal Ramon de Luna Talaga, Sr., also served as Municipal Mayor of Mauban, Quezon and was twice elected Board Member of Quezon Province. While his mother, the late Josefina Nacion Yason, was a public school teacher.

He entered politics to heed his dying father’s wish. He ran and won for Vice Mayor in 1988 and was elected twice as Mayor of Lucena afterwards. On his run for the third term, he lost, however, to his closest rival Bernard Gala Tagarao in the 1998 elections. But he ran and made a comeback in the recall election of 2000. He was re-elected in the regular election in May 2001 and never stopped transforming Lucena City into one of the active key players in the economic ballgame in Southern Luzon and as one of the country’s growth centers in Southern Tagalog.
